Wedding Planning

Sometimes we roll through life thinking we have all the answers. Sometimes we do, but more often then not we know very little. A statement I've been saying a lot lately is "The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know." This statement is so true. That being said I hope this short list of things will help you think about things for your wedding.

Although the venue is gorgeous, when booking it, we didn't consider the implications of what that would entail. The venue restricted us and caused us to have to spend more money then we originally wanted. Our goal was to be as close to 0 as possible so we could use all the extra money to put into our businesses.

After signing the contract with the venue we realized they required a few things. They required a licensed catering service. This was a very expensive problem. In the world of catering, even for a simple 150 people it's a lot.

2. Officiants

Needing someone to marry you and oversee the ceremony is important. In our case it was our pastor. Understand that they are taking time to do these things, and they also charge for the extra help. How much is determined by the pastor.

3. License

In the state of Michigan, it only costs $30 for residents. . .but you still need to go to the county clerk and get all the paperwork done. You are required to bring both your birth certificates. You then have to wait three days to recieve paperwork. Different states have different rules. Keep in mind you are unable to set the marriage date until you have the license to sign. Back dating is NOT allowed.
